Founder & Elder
Rev. Starr RavenHawk is the Founder and Elder of the NYC Wiccan Family Temple and has been serving the New York City Pagan community since 1993. A practicing Eclectic Solitary Witch since 1978, she has dedicated more than four decades to the study, practice, and teaching of WitchCraft and contemporary Pagan traditions.
A Trini-Canadian, Starr developed an interest in the magickal arts at a young age and became an independent scholar, studying WitchCraft in its many forms. She considers the diverse magickal traditions of the world to be part of her lifelong path of learning and practice.
In 1993, she founded Charmed by Starr, beginning with Pagan retail spaces in New York City before launching the online shop in 2005. Through Charmed by Starr, she has helped make ritual supplies, books, and educational resources more accessible to the Pagan community while supporting the ongoing work of the Temple.
Since 1994, Starr has organized classes, lectures, workshops, rituals, and public events serving New York City’s Pagan community. In 2003, she founded the NYC Wiccan Family Temple, which was formally established as a nonprofit organization in 2007 together with High Priestess Elder Luna Rojas. That same year, they founded the WFT Academy of Pagan Studies, the first Witch school in New York City.
Throughout her years of service, Starr has helped create and organize many of the community’s best-known events and initiatives, including the annual Witches’ Masquerade Ball (2005–2019) and WitchsFest USA, one of the country’s largest public celebrations of contemporary Paganism. She also co-created the Journey to the Realm of the Underworld Graveyard Mysteries, an immersive experience designed to combine spiritual exploration with therapeutic and magickal practice.
As a Reverend, High Priestess, teacher, and Elder, Starr has presented lectures and workshops on WitchCraft and its many traditions at festivals, colleges, universities, and community events for more than forty years. Her work emphasizes lifelong learning, practical experience, and the responsible practice of the Craft.
Today, she continues to lead the NYC Wiccan Family Temple, teach through the WFT Academy of Pagan Studies, and support the growth of the Pagan community through education, public outreach, and service.
“Free your mind, educate it, and the rest will follow.”
